Hello lovely Clients!

It's been a while since we last put pen to paper, so we have lots to catch up on! Since our last newsletter, we've moved onto our newly renovated and are now fully settled in - although, being us, we're always tweaking and finessing the space. It really is our second home, where we can get a little more creative than we might get at home (thanks to partners having their own opinions)!

We hope you all had a lovely Christmas and are feeling excited for the spring ahead. We've got some great updates to share with you below:

Meet the team!

Since opening our new doors, we've been so happy to welcome some brilliant new talent and really come together as a team. We've loved celebrating milestones like celebrating opening the new salon together, celebrating 5 years of Meraki, our Christmas party and a fun team photo shoot (just to name a few), as well as simply enjoying working side by side day by day.

While we take our craft very seriously, we believe great hair is best created in an atmosphere of warmth, fun and personality - which is why you might spot us filming the occasional tiktok along the way. We're super proud of the team we're building and the energy we're creating in the salon.

What we've been up to:

It's been a busy and brilliant few months for us outside of the salon. We were thrilled to attend the British Fashion Awards with our bumble and bumble family, where we also styled hair for some incredible looks on the night. Being part of such an iconic event was hugely inspiring and we loved soaking up the creativity and energy behind the scenes.

We were extremely lucky and honoured to be selected to have a four page spread in Creative head magazine in the 'watch this space' section which showcases new salon spaces! We were asked all about the making of Meraki, our ideas behind our chosen style and aesthetic and where our inspirations came from! It was definitely a pinch me moment for us! You can find a copy of the magazine in our salon if you would like a snoop.

We also travelled to a London studio for our very first full team photo shoot, working alongside a photographer and makeup artist to bring our concept 'Sculpted Edge' to life. Each stylist contributed their own creative ideas through mood boards, and together we shaped a look focused on strong shapes, structure and an editorial edge. It was a fantastic day of collaboration and a real milestone for us as a team.

As always, when Halloween comes round, we always like to try and outdo our previous costumes, and the bigger the team meant the better costumes in our eyes. The halloween brief: dress up as a bald character. The idea behind it? Well we decided that we do hair 24/7 so why not dress as bald characters and have a day off doing our own hair for a change! (What we didnt anticipate was how much effort gluing bald caps to our heads woud be.. lesson learnt)! We spent the day laughing constantly, making use of our outfits for tiktok opportunity's, being stared at by passers by and Lea even went on to win a bottle of champagne and a voucher for best dressed at the Abbot's Elm halloween party - which was fully deserved considering she built her meramind head herself using paper mache.

We rounded off the year with our Christmas celebration in December, enjoying a wreath making session with Lana, the owner of 'Wild & Indie', followed by cocktails, games and our very own team awards - plenty of laughs and special memories included. We finished off the evening at the new Broadway Cellars wine bar in St Ives, enjoying live music, cheese and meat boards and lots of wine and cocktails (there were a few sore heads the next day).

Looking ahead, our brilliant second year apprentices Izzy and Sofia are now hosting Saturday blow-dry bars in the salon. You can book in with them for root refreshes, styling amd blow-dries for any upcoming events - all currently at a discounted rate, so grab a spot whilst you can by phoning the salon or sending us an email/direct message on instagram!
